Women have an especially difficult time accessing health care due to discriminatory practices that are currently legal. Here’s a pdf developed by the National Women’s Law Center that describes what health care reform would mean to women in Nevada: Nevada Health Care Reform Fact Sheet
For more information and state-by-state analyses of what HR 3962 will mean to women, read this:
“The Affordable Health Care for America Act H.R. 3962 addresses many needs critical to women and their families. The bill ends the unfair discrimination women face by eliminating gender rating, pre-existing condition exclusions, and other insurance industry practices that have long put insurance coverage out of reach for women. It establishes a new marketplace to give women and their families a choice of insurance options, including private plans and a public health insurance option, to make insurance available to women regardless of their life circumstances. This bill brings the country even closer toward achieving meaningful health care reform for women and their families.”
